What kind of mat and frame will my print come with?
We have chosen single and double mats with colors that we feel best
complement our prints. Our frames are solid wood and are either black
or a natural wood color depending on which looks nicest with the print.
We think our combinations will look good with a variety of decorating
styles. If you have a particular look you would like, we suggest you
contact us for more information about particular prints or to make a
special request, or order a print with only a mat and arrange for framing
yourself.
Are the photographs digitally manipulated?
Cameras, whether digital or film, perceive things differently than the
human eye. In the interest of creating images that match our human
experience, we do make subtle changes when needed. We never create
composite images; we do balance color, light, and shadow to best
represent the beauty we saw at the time the photograph was taken.
Why don't all prints come in all sizes?
As digital technology has improved, cameras have begun collecting more
information in the process of taking photographs, allowing for larger
prints of quality comparable to smaller prints. We are committed to high
quality, sharp images, and do not print our earlier photographs so large
that the quality is compromised.
How long will a print last?
Our photos are giclee prints, meaning they are created with an inkjet
printer capable of producing detailed fine art and photographic prints.
The longevity of any giclee print is dependent on the media and inks
used to create it. We use acid free paper and Epson's archival inks to
resist fading and color shifting as much as possible. With proper care,
such giclees are expected to last over 100 years.
How should I care for my print?
A glicee print should be cared for in a manner similar to regular film
prints. Your print will last longer out of direct sunlight. Framing it behind
glass also helps greatly reduce fading and color shifts due to prolonged
exposure to light. Protect your print from extreme temperatures and
humidity, which will also cause it to age faster. Never allow water to come
into direct contact with the print.
